Our 3-D images were made with the program IDRISI Kilimanjaro produced by Clark Labs. The technique is applicable to satellite images, aerial photographs or conventional photos, under the condition that they are taken by pairs, at adequate angles. This type of viewing is very useful for geographic analyses because it allows the detection of important details in the terrain that are not visible in simple images.

JPL explains how to make 3-D pictures with a regular camera and a photo-editing software such as Adobe Photo Shop.
