Notes on the second flight over the Vilcabamba Mountain range (July 2005)

The December 2003 flight to the heights of the Vilcabamba Mountain range showed some interesting scenes of strange beauty. Nevertheless, the presence of a thick cloudiness made it difficult to obtain good views. The period between May and September is considered the best for flying in these zones of high forest since the climate is relatively drier. Therefore we decided to organize a flight over to the zone on July 9, 2005. Again considerable cloudiness was present but in less proportion than in the previous expedition, especially in the higher zones. For this reason better images were obtained than in the 2003 expedition.

A new image of Lago Parodi was obtained (compare with the photo from National Geographic). The original resolution of the image is of 4 megapixels (2304 x 1728 pixels). If you are interested in obtaining the original of this or another image write us and we will be glad to attend you.

The flight was made in a small Cessna plane of "Alas de Esperanza", piloted by Enrique Tante. The photos were taken by the engineers Abel Revoredo (digital camera with 10x zoom lens) and Jorge Gomez (standard camera). Also our friend Joel Rivera, native of the zone, participated in the flight and recorded a video with a digital camera. See photo of participants.
