* Quincemil is a small town in
the rainforest region of the department of Cuzco that is near to where it is thought the Incas
obtained most of their gold. Today there are still mining companies
obtaining some alluvial gold from placers in the whole region all the
way down to the Department of Madre de Dios. It is necessary to
develop environmentally sound techniques for the extraction of the
precious metal in this highly biodiverse region.

un pequeño pueblo en la zona selvática del departamento de Cuzco que está cerca
de donde se piensa los incas obtuvieron la mayor parte de su oro. Aún hoy
hay compañías de explotación minera que obtienen oro aluvial de los placeres
de la región hasta el departamento de Madre de Dios. Es necesario desarrollar técnicas
ambientales sanas para la extracción del metal precioso en esta región
de alta biodiversidad.
